Developing better financial thinkers.
Capital Minds provides tailored finance training for financial institutions, corporations and other organizations seeking to develop the technical skills, critical thinking, and judgment their professionals need to make better decisions—including the judgment required to use and supervise emerging AI tools effectively.
From Knowledge to ImpactTechnical skills are the foundation. Judgment is the goal.
Knowing how to build a model, calculate a ratio, or perform a valuation matters. But the most important financial decisions rarely come with a single correct answer.
Professionals must determine which information matters, question assumptions, interpret results, evaluate alternatives, and communicate a defensible conclusion.
Capital Minds designs finance training around both sides of that equation: rigorous technical skills and the judgment required to apply them.
Knowledge → Application → Judgment → Decisions → Impact
The tools will change. The need for sound financial judgment won’t.
How We Teach
-
Capital Minds programs put participants in realistic situations where they must analyze information, make decisions, and defend their thinking.
-
Financial concepts are taught in the context of actual business decisions rather than as isolated techniques.
-
Participants develop the analytical and modeling skills expected of finance professionals.
-
Cases and exercises require participants to identify what matters, challenge assumptions, and evaluate competing interpretations.
-
Participants learn to make and defend decisions when information is incomplete and the answer is not obvious.
-
Discussion, case analysis, modeling exercises and other interactive methods turn participants from passive learners into active decision-makers.
-
Participants learn to use AI to work more efficiently and extend their analytical capabilities while remaining responsible for the quality of the work. Training emphasizes how to direct, supervise, challenge, and validate AI-generated analysis, and how to recognize when human judgment needs to take over.

AI in Finance
Using emerging AI tools to enhance financial analysis and modeling while maintaining appropriate human oversight. Participants learn where AI can improve efficiency and analytical capabilities, how to effectively direct and supervise AI-enabled work, and how to validate outputs, identify errors, and exercise judgment before relying on the results.
Tailored LearningYour professionals don’t work from a textbook. Their training shouldn’t either.
Effective training starts with the decisions participants need to make on the job.
Capital Minds works with clients to tailor program content, cases, exercises, and level of technical depth to the participants and the organization. Training can incorporate industry-specific situations, realistic company analysis, financial models, and decision scenarios designed around the work participants actually perform.
The objective is not simply to cover material. It is to help participants transfer what they learn to their jobs.
What participants will leave with:
More than technical proficiency.
Build stronger financial and analytical foundations
Connect financial analysis to underlying business performance
Identify the assumptions and variables that matter most
Challenge information rather than simply accept it
Apply financial concepts to unfamiliar situations
Exercise judgment when there is no obvious answer
Use emerging AI tools thoughtfully and effectively
Supervise and validate AI-enabled work rather than accept outputs at face value
Communicate and defend analytical conclusions
Make better-informed financial decisions
About Capital Minds
Finance expertise. Teaching expertise. Practitioner relevance.
Capital Minds was founded by former Wall Street professional and award-winning finance educator, Marisa Palmer, who has extensive experience designing and delivering finance training for experienced finance and corporate professionals, recent graduates, MBAs and undergraduates.
Our founder spent ten years on Wall Street as an investment banker and investment analyst, ten years building and running education businesses in financial services, and over five years as a lecturer at the Wisconsin School of Business at the University of Wisconsin, with a focus on financial analysis, investment banking, capital markets, private capital, valuation, and financial modeling.
That combination of finance expertise and teaching experience shapes the Capital Minds approach: complex concepts should be rigorous without being unnecessarily complicated, and the best learning occurs when participants are required to think, apply, question, and decide.
The same philosophy extends to emerging technologies. AI is creating powerful new ways for finance professionals to analyze information, build models, and work more efficiently. Realizing those benefits, however, requires more than knowing how to use an AI tool.
Finance professionals must know how to direct AI effectively, supervise its work, recognize questionable outputs, validate results, and determine when human judgment needs to take over. Capital Minds incorporates AI into training where appropriate while keeping the finance professional—and the judgment and accountability that come with the role—at the center of the process.
